STUDY ABROAD | TRINIDAD & TOBAGO

WHO AM I?
I am Asia Clemmons, a 20-year old from Atlanta, GA and a Jr. in the Social Work Program at Albany State University. I am excited to announce my acceptance in the 2018 Study Abroad Program to Trinidad and Tobago. It is an honor and privilege to be selected to participate in this program.
WHY DO I WANT IT?
I was born in Atlanta to teenage parents who were both under 20 years old at the time of my birth. At age 9 I was removed from my mothers custody and placed in the care of my paternal grandmother who was awarded sole custody and raised me along with my half-brother and two of her biological children. My experiences as a child are among the many reasons I chose the field of Social Work. It is my desire and passion to help young people who, of no fault of their own, find themselves in the foster care system. I am committed to help them navigate life, be successful and disprove statistics.
HOW CAN YOU HELP?
As far back as I can remember it has been my dream to travel the world. The Study Abroad Program will help me realize my dream as well as expose me to a broader knowledge of and experience in the field of Social Work. Unfortunately, the expenses for the trip exceed the amount covered by the scholarship. Needless to say, as a college student from a low-income family, with a couple of part-time jobs, I don't have those funds. That's where my friends, family, community and church come in. I need your help and support! A donation in any amount would be greatly appreciated.Thank you in advance for your generosity!
