Robbie Poe’s Brain Cancer Battle

On January 27th 2015, our world was turned upside down. After experiencing some headaches and double vision, Robbie was diagnosed with Glioblastoma Astrocytoma grade 4 Brain Cancer. He was given a prognosis of 12- 18 months. Four brain surgeries, high intensity whole brain radiation and chemo, chemo and more chemo, experimental chemo. This has left Robbie legally blind in one eye and clinically blind in the other. Robbie had to stop treatments for a few months due to liver failure and colitis. As we approach the 6 year mark, we have been told it will come back and Robbie will start an aggressive treatment with two different chemo drugs and proton radiation as 2020 comes to an end. This battle has come with a severe financial burden, both in time and money. Experimental treatments and medications not covered by insurance, time off work, travel expenses, one vehicle driven into the dirt and endless copays and out of pocket expenses have left us with nothing left.
