Hamburger Ron Mertz - Funeral
With a heavy heart, I ask for your help. My father, Ron Mertz, passed suddenly, Monday January 29, 2018. He leaves behind a wife, two children and 2 grandchildren that were his pride in joy. As you can imagine, our family is grieving right now and the last thing we want to worry about is finances and how were gonna make ends meet. Funeral expenses are only the beginning for us and it's difficult without life insurance. Anyone who knew my father, knows that he had a huge heart and would help anyone who needed it. He loved the outdoors, the Atchafalya River, listening to live and local music, Willie Nelson and spending time with his dearest friends bullshitting at the bar. He saw no wrong in others and always looked for the positive in people. He spent majority of his life on the coaches side while my brother and I played sports. He carried that on and was at every soccer/ baseball game my children ever played. He also adored my daughter and admired her skill for playing the violin. All who knew him, we're blessed with his knowledge and opinion. Yes, he was an Aggie!! Gig 'em!! Even tho we gave him hell for it, he stayed true to his roots! He will live on through the lives of others and he'll never be forgotten. Please consider helping my family in this time of need.
I leave you with the lyrics to one of his favorite songs...
Seven Spanish Angels
Willie Nelson and Ray Charles
He looked down into her brown eyes,
Said, " Say a prayer for me."
She threw her arms around him,
Whispered, "God will keep us free."
And they could hear the riders comin',
He said, "This is my last fight.
If they take me back to Texas,
They won't take me back alive."
And there were seven Spanish Angels,
At the alter of the Sun.
They were prayin' for the lovers,
In the valley of the gun.
And when the battle stopped,
And the smoke cleared.
There was thunder from the throne.
And seven Spanish angels,
Took another angel home.
She reached down and picked the gun up,
That lay smokin' in his hand.
Said, "Father please forgive me,
I can't make it without my man."
And she knew the gun was empty,
And she knew she couldn't win.
But her final prayer was answered,
When the rifles fired again.
And there were seven Spanish Angels,
At the alter of the Sun.
They were prayin' for the lovers,
In the valley of the gun.
And when the battle stopped,
And the smoke cleared.
There was thunder from the throne.
And seven Spanish angels,
Took another angel home.
Thank you all from the bottom of my heart!!! If there's anything I ask of you today... Please pick up the phone, make that trip and say I love you more often cause we aren't promised tomorrow.
