Trip of a Lifetime!

Rallying the troops!

I am trying to raise enough money to grant a wish for a friend/co-worker. His mother is suffering from stage 4 cancer and was recently informed that her body has stopped responding to treatment. He cancelled his 30th birthday bash so that he could fly out to see her instead.

He has mentioned to me before that he has always wanted to fly his parents out "in style" to attend a taping of the Price is Right. Apparently, this is his mother's favorite show. He was concerned about whether he'd be able to save up the money and do this while his mother is still well enough to travel.

My first thought was, "That's it? A "˜pamper mom and treat her like the royalty she is' trip to watch her favorite show live?" This is not an outlandish request, especially for what may be a family's last memories together.

In secret, I started looking at first class tickets from Boston to California(they are ridiculously expensive for the average joe). A nice hotel could probably be found cheaper. A car rental, no biggie. As I continued my research, I started to realize why he hasn't been able to make good on this bucket list dream trip "“ its expensive!

As a single mom, I am generally the charity case among friends. I have very little extra to offer, but I'm hoping my words and effort to raise money on his behalf will allow this woman to forget about the cancer that is eating her body, even if only for a short while, and instead create a beautiful memory with her family.

time is of the essence here:

So, I wrote to Ellen, then I wrote to Oprah's publicist, and finally I wrote to The Price is Right. I'm logical enough to know that I probably won't get a response, but I believe that anything is possible. I also plan to hold a bake sale and put out penny jars at work, but its the holiday season and a rough economic climate so I'm trying to reach out to anyone.

Which is where you come in.

Do you have a dollar? Or even whatever change is left on the balance in your checking account? Any and all donations will be accepted as no act of kindness is too small.

I am trying to keep this a surprise so if you work at my company and you know who I'm talking about, please do not say anything. I have no idea what the outcome will be and I would hate to put the cart before the horse on this one.

I would like to be able to provide this to the family by the end of the month/early December.
If you made it through this entire message then I thank you for that. If you cannot donate money, but would like to share this page with friends and family, then that is just as helpful as cash. Getting the word out quickly is key to our success.

If you would like to donate other services that can directly add to the experience of this trip (airline tickets, car service, hotel stay, etc.) Please feel free to contact me in person, via this site or via facebook.

Kindest Regards,

Tiffany
