Ayva's Oral Surgery Fund

My dog Ayva sure has had a streak of bad luck when it comes to her health over the past 13-14 months.  Actually, it's been a pretty bad year for 3 out of 4 of my pets.  It started with Ayva last year; she was in pretty bad shape.  She was itching all the time, started losing patches of fur, and even developed a pretty bad odor over time.  The vet I was going to at the time insisted that it was all being caused by a food allergy.  My instincts told me this wasn't true, and thought that an environmental allergy made more sense since the only thing that had changed was her environment (when we moved from WI to OR).  Anyway once she got really bad with her symptoms and after trying many different food trials to try and relieve the supposed food allergies I started to suspect mange and took her to a new vet for a second opinion.  The new vet confirmed that she did in fact have mange and put her on a treatment plan.  A month later we went in for a follow up and she was definitely improving.  At this appointment I decided to put her back on a flea and heartworm preventative.  The vet suggested a product called Trifexis that comes in a tablet form and it given monthly.  After her first dose, she seemed like she was drunk and couldn't see all that well.  I suspected a reaction between the Trifexis and mange medication (Ivermectin) but the vet thought that the Ivermectin dose had just gotten too high for her to handle.  She did some research just to be sure and found no warnings about using the two products together.  The following month I gave her the next dose of Trifexis right before bed.  When I woke up the next morning I tripped over her lifeless body on my way to the bathroom...  I thought she had died shortly before I woke up.  After panicking for a moment I saw her belly move up and down a little, indicating she was still breathing, but she was completely unresponsive.  Anyway, to try and shorten up a long story, the cause was actually using Ivermectin and Trifexis together, and Ayva pulled through after spending a couple of days with the vet.

After things finally seemed to calm down in Ayva's world, I found a mass on my cat Tigger's belly.  She had a tumor on one of her mammary glands.  (Basically the cat version of breast cancer).  We had surgery to remove the tumor, and they were able to remove it all with wide margins (yay!).  My other dog, Batman, has had allergy issues all this time to, as well as recurring ear infections.  The poor guy seems to get the infections in both ears at the same time every time too.  Then he had some sort of infection on his snout that looked like acne which required even more medications.  On top of all of that Ayva recently got sick again too, this time it was pancreatitis.  Fortunately she is doing much better now.  We have to really watch her diet going forward, it's possible for the pancreatitis to come back.

While I am so happy that all of my "furbabies" have pulled through every time, it's been a HUGE financial strain.  I have acquired about a $4,000 debt on my credit card from all of these vet bills over the past 13-14 months.  Now, Ayva is in need of some dental care...  and my line of credit is pretty much maxed out.

When I took Ayva to the vet for her pancreatitis I was informed that she has 2 fractured teeth that need to be removed, as well as an abscess near one of those teeth.  I knew about one of the fractured teeth earlier this year, but haven't been able to afford to have it removed.  Now with the addition of the second broken tooth and the infection, it's really important I get this taken care of ASAP!

For those of you that have met my Ayva, you know that she is SO full of love!  She is such a sweet little girl and just wants everyone to love and cuddle her... and if she isn't after cuddles then she just wants you to play "catch it" with her, or possibly a game of tug-o-war or keep away.  I just want her to be happy and out of pain.  She's been through SO much lately, I wish she could just catch a break.  It kills me to have to ask for help, but I can't sit back and watch her suffer while I wait for my wallet to get thicker...  So that's why I am here.  She has a wellness plan that includes a dental cleaning, and also provides a discount on additional services.  So that will cover some of the anesthesia and discount the tooth extractions a bit, but the estimate is still just under $935 ($932.54 to be precise).  Anything helps, even $1.  If you don't have $1 to spare, you could help by sharing this in case maybe one of your friends has a dollar to spare...  Either way, thanks for taking the time to read this and consider helping!  I know I have wonderful friends and family in my life that will help if at all possible.  Thank you in advance!

PS:  I am also willing to exchange baked goods for donations if you are local!  :)
