Relief Fund for Queenie Carter

UPDATE: Unfortunately on May 24, 2018 Queenie’s home was taken by the lava eruptions in Leilani Estates. Mahalo to everyone who has continued to support her during this hardship, we appreciate every prayer sent and all the love and support along the way.

Queenie Carter, also known as "Aunty Queenie", has always been one to help her community of Pahoa. She enjoys living the simple life at her home she built with her late husband over 30 years ago. It was there she raised her four children and two grand children. Her house on Ho’okupu St. was always open to those in need. She spends her free time volunteering at the Pahoa Sacred Hearts Church, helping take care of the elderly, or serving the community. Many would say she lives the true meaning of Aloha.

On Thursday, May 3, 2018, a mandatory evacuation was issued due to a lava eruption just two streets away and she was forced to leave her Leilani Estates home. Now with being cut off from the area due to serval fissures, she may no longer be able to return. She’s currently staying with family for now. Her children and grand kids are very concerned for her. Though she is a strong independent woman, she doesn’t know how to ask for help when she really needs it.

Prayers and any help is greatly appreciated. 100% of the funds raised will go towards a more permanent residence for her and to help her get back on her feet. Mahalo nui for the love and support!
