The Bongiorno Family are facing a difficult journey, both parents have advanced forms of cancer, and we have an opportunity to show our love and support!
First, Michele's life took a turn in September 2015 when she was diagnosed with stage 4 colorectal cancer that has metastasized to her lungs. At this current point in time surgery is not an option. She started the difficult journey of chemotherapy in October. She is undergoing chemo treatments every other Tuesday until March or April. She will receive a scan in late December/early January and hopefully with great results from chemo, surgery will be in her future to remove any tumors.
Second, in mid-November, John, Michele’s husband, has been diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). He is beginning his cancer treatments at MD Anderson in Houston, Texas. He will remain in the hospital for at least several months.
While John is in the hospital at MD Anderson, Michele will continue her chemotherapy at MD Anderson as well. The family is living in an apartment sponsored by MD Anderson, however, the cost is $4000 a month. The financial burden for these parents is building quickly! We need John and Michele to focus on getting better so they can look to the future with their three beautiful children.
