Patriots Tickets for a Child Who Needs Some Holiday Cheer!

Thank you for visiting my page! Each year during the holiday season, I work with a local homeless shelter in Worcester, MA to assist them in fulfilling the holiday wishlists of the families living in the shelter.

This year I took on 5 families (51 total items on the wishlists, collectively) and have been able to get all but one item on the list.

Jordan is a 15 year old boy who lives with his Mom, Dad, and his younger sister. Jordan's family had lived in the same apartment for 20 years and never needed to use public assistance. Both parents worked full time jobs and Dad also worked an additional part time job to make ends meet. Earlier this year, the property the family lived in was taken over by a new landlord, who quickly increased the rent. Dad subsequently lost his full time job this year and it wasn't long before the family was underwater and were evicted from their home of 20 years.

Because both parents had part-time jobs, they didn't qualify (by about $20!) to live in the shelter and instead were placed in the "community living space" owned by the shelter. I'm sure you can imagine how difficult shelter life can be for a 15 year old boy. He wasn't able to have friends over and was suddenly sharing a very small space with both his entire family and a lot of strangers.

Despite all of this stress, Jordan is an honor roll student at school and recently made the local paper for his achievements! He enjoys playing basketball and other sports and is a true New England sports fan. He absolutely LOVES the New England Patriots and it has been his dream to be able to go to a game. The last game of the regular season is on Sunday, 12/29/13 at Gillette Stadium against the Buffalo Bills and I would love to get him there.

Through the assistance of the shelter, Dad recently got a new job and the family has moved into an affordable apartment. They do have a vehicle. However, the holidays are going to be difficult this year and the shelter has decided to help them out by having them create a wishlist.

Despite my best efforts to tap contacts and networks and appeal to ticket re-sellers other organizations, I haven't found anyone willing to donate the tickets. Gillette also was a strike-out. They state right on their website that they do not donate tickets.

This is where you come in! Every little bit counts. Tickets are out there for sale on ticket re-seller websites, I just need the funding to buy them. Please consider donating. $5, $10, $25, $50 or more - every dollar counts and goes a long way to giving a really great, smart and deserving kid the Christmas he deserves and putting a huge smile on his face and joy in his heart after what has been a really rough year for him.

Thank you and have a wonderful and blessed holiday season and a happy and healthy New Year!

Please feel free to email me with any questions.

Sincerely,
Erin Segal
