Saving Lives by reducing risk!

(SAHRC)Southern Arizona Harm Reduction Collective, is Tucson newest syringe access program that is operated, and driven, entirely, by peer volunteers who seek to, not only meet peers where they are, but to not leave them where they are! Our mission is to form, and nuture a relationship w/our peers, their loved ones, and our community. In addition to the dispensing of clean needles, we also allocate for the collection, and disposal of used sharps; to help keep the community, as a whole, safe. Another crucial facet in forming a relationship w/our peers is to help them make well informed choices, in regards to their mental, and physical health. We will do so by teaching them the skills necessary to provide outreach, and advocate within, and for the Injection Drug Users (IDU) community. We will, also, provide education; through overdose, HIV & Hep-C prevention, Rapid HIV & Hep-C testing; when appropriate the linkage to care, Naloxone (Narcan) kits; to prevent overdose, woundcare kits, condom kits, referrals for housing, and drug treatment when requsted. Being that the effects of the current opioid crisis are co-occurring with opioid users, their families, and the surrounding community; we will deliver educational training on Harm Reduction 101; for the family members, and friends of IV drug users.
