Annie’s Recovery Fund

Annie Walton-Teter sustained a serious head injury during the early morning of June 1, while crewing on the sailing vessel Amazing Grace during the SoCal 300 race. The accident happened nearly 120 nautical miles west of San Diego and she was rescued by Coast Guard helicopter and flown to Scripps Memorial Hospital in San Diego. There, she underwent emergency neurosurgery for a large epidural bleed, followed by surgery to repair facial and cranial fractures. The surgeries have been successful and she will now require months of treatment in a residential and outpatient rehabilitation facilities.We are raising funds to help Annie and enable family members to be with her as part of her treatment team during this difficult time. In addition to medical and rehabilitation costs not covered by her insurance we are raising funds to allow her parents, and her sister, Sasha, to take turns coming from their homes on the east coast to California to help in Annie’s recovery. We are also going to do our best to keep Annie’s apartment for her when she is able to return to it. The expenses are significant and 100% of funds raised will support Annie’s care and recovery.Those lucky enough to know and love Annie have seen her through tough times before, during her breast cancer and subsequent surgeries. Things were looking up for Annie before the accident and we want to help her get back on track physically, emotionally, and financially. She is a loyal and loving daughter, sister and friend and we want the very best for her. Annie’s zest for life is contagious and she has never needed a reminder that life is precious.
