Last Saturday Ecuador suffered a devastating earthquake of 7.8 degrees. So far, the earthquake has caused 658 deaths and more than 5000 injuries. Today, there are thousands of people throughout the country still under the wreckages and in desperate need of aid and shelter. The country is now facing a huge challenge as its public infrastructure has been hugely affected and over 9000 buildings damaged.



Around 25,000 people including children, pregnant moms and elders have lost their homes. There has already been a massive solidarity from the local and international community,but all these efforts seem short to compensate the magnitude of such devastating natural disaster.

In today's world, small gestures and actions from people in privileged positions can bring smiles and hope to thousands of people in extreme need. I strongly believe that moments of humanitarian crisis – such as the one Ecuador is facing – bring the kindest and most virtuous actions from our community.
