ANTIOCH/BAY AREA // HELP URGENTLY NEEDED
A dear friend of mine J.D. Weaver is a disabled musician/poet currently living out of a motel in Antioch, with only enough money to last 4 days-after which he has nowhere to go. Weaver suffers from multiple heart conditions as well as Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, and won't be able to survive on the streets. He is able to work, but currently doesn't have enough money for housing.
Weaver is originally from the UK, and moved here to escape an incredibly abusive and dangerous living situation. Living in the Bay Area has been extremely beneficial to his mental and physical health through the friendships he has formed, and he has truly fallen in love with the community. He desperately needs to stay in California, but is in dire need of temporary housing until he can figure out long term options. He has stated that anything will help, even sheds and garages, as living in closed-off shelters/motels has been detrimental to his mental health.
Long term goals would be enough money for permanent accommodation/rent as well as enough to pay a nominated ally to be a part-time caregiver. Weaver has been extremely reluctant to ask for help until now, but with only 4 days left he truly needs assistance with this short-term urgent goals as well as long term accommodation. He is such an incredibly kind and uplifting person to everyone he meets, it shatters my heart to see him going through this.
