US Open Karate Championships

After 10 years of hard work and dedication to my sport of karate, I have had the absolute honour of being selected to represent Australia at the 2014 US open and Junior International Cup, to be held in Las Vegas in April. This is a fantastic opportunity to represent my country for the second time as well as bringing me one step closer to achieving my dream of being selected to represent Australia at the Junior World Championships.
Last year I was fortunate enough to be selected for my first international event, the 2013 Commonwealth Championships which were held in Canada. It was the first step towards achieving my dream. I performed well, receiving 4th place in kumite and 7th in kata. Since this first appearance on the international stage my passion and dedication to the sport has only grown. I came home more determined than ever, training 5 days a week. This time I know I’ve got what it takes to make it onto the podium for Australia.
Over the last five years I have represented Queensland as well as my club at competitions around Australia. I medalled at nationals three years in a row, also receiving bronze at the 2013 Australian Open.
Sadly, no amount of drive and determination can overcome the financial barriers that I am faced with. Karate is completely self-funded. The resulting monetary burden has placed considerable stress on my mother, who does everything in her power to support me. It would mean the world if I could help to relieve the financial strain of competing in a sport that I love so much. Any donations or sponsorship would allow me to turn dreams into reality. I cannot thank you enough for your support.
