BrickDreams - Brick by Brick
Donation protected
My name is Lleyton Rutz, and I do things out of inspiration rather than desperation. Let me tell you more.
My passion to help other children guided me to lead a nationally recognized charity whose mission is to serve child victims of domestic violence and abuse, BrickDreams.org. The opportunities I find every day drive me to help my extended community. My work is simple. I gather donated Lego from across the country, sort them and distribute them to community partners such as police, sheriff and firemen who directly put them in the hands of child victims. A child victim of domestic violence may leave the house quickly, often without a lot of things. They may be able to get clothes and toiletries where they go, but they can't get something comforting like Lego that allows them to use their imagination and create things they enjoy. It helps tremendously during a stressful time.
Stored in used tennis ball cans, the Lego are easily transportable. Some of the police and sheriff agencies BrickDreams works with carry the cans in their cars and detective and deputies give them to kids when intervening during domestic violence calls. The county and state agencies for victim services and domestic violence advocates that I work with make sure the Lego cans are distributed to the children in their programs.
Donations raised through this Go Fund Me campaign will be used in part to rent a storage unit to store the many generous used Lego donations BrickDreams receives. My family's garage is filled and we're even using other rooms in our home to store donations. I need more space.
Thank you for considering to support the work I do to help others.
