Irina Hanesyan turns six years old on 10th of December. Unfortunately, this year's Birthday celebration will be different for her and her family. She will celebrate her sixth birthday at the Clinic of Pediatric Oncology, University Hospital Düsseldorf, Germany.
Irina has recently been diagnosed with medulloblastoma, cancerous tumor in the posterior fossa (region of the brain at the base of the skull). The first symptoms were seen in early September - rare cases of a headache, nausea, vomiting (usually in the morning) and eyesight problems. As the symptoms became frequent, the child underwent several medical examinations in Armenia, Russia and Georgia.
However, doctors could not find any medical explanation for her symptoms. We had high hope for some improvement but saw little to none. Since mid-September, her health had only got worse. In search of high-quality diagnosis and treatment, we had to leave to Germany and undergo an examination at University Hospital Düsseldorf.
The child was diagnosed with medulloblastoma. Hearing your child has a brain tumor is not what any parent wants to face but we were glad we finally had an answer that she could get the treatment she needed to get better.
Irina has already had two successful surgeries and she is recovering from them continue to paint and smile as painting is her favourite hobby. There are high chances for her final recovery, but she also needs chemotherapy to stop the progression of the illness.
Every day is a challenge for Irina but she is a courageous girl who hopes and fights for recovery. Her family struggles to save her life. Unfortunately, the expenses are far more than we have and can raise among our family members.
We paid for the examination in Germany of 22 000 euros. As the two surgeries were urgent, the clinic granted the request to extend the payment. To start the treatment, we still need 30 000 - 50 000 Euros for the done surgeries and 20 000 Euros for the chemotherapy course. Doctors said that she needs 7-10 chemo and radiotherapy courses (one course costs 15 000 Euros).
This is a huge sum that's why we ask for your help. With the help of our friends and relatives, we have already raised 15 000 Euros. As her family, we would appreciate any help to save the life of our daughter. Even the smallest amount matters and all adds up.
Please help us to save Irina's life.
Attached is the official diagnosis document. The chemotherapy course starts on November 18, which means we must quickly raise the money to stop the progression of the illness.
