Wheelchair Softball in the Boston area started in 1998
after NEPVA members returned from the National Veterans Wheelchair games talking about the joy the received from getting the opportunity to play wheelchair softball for the first time since their injuries.

That year after holding our 1st wheelchair softball game at Mass Hospital School in Canton, MA we traveled down to NY where the EPVA was holding their 1st clinic. Soon after we combine our players together and were part of the 1st team from the Northeast to compete at the NWST.

While at home the Brockton VA Hospital in Brockton, MA was busy starting work on our Field of Dreams, the 1st and only wheelchair softball field in New England.
                                Brockton VA Field of Dreams

The field was completed in 1999 and in 2000 the Rollin Red Sox team became the first team from the New England area to compete in the National Wheelchair Softball Tournament.  The team has competed in all but one National Tournament since then and every Major League Wheelchair Softball Tournament.

The Rollin Red Sox team has won 3 National Division II Championships in 2005, 2006 and 2010..

In 2014 with the inlcusion of Japan to the Tournament the National Tournament became the Wheelchair Softball World Series.
The WSWS is the largest wheelchair softball tournament in the country where teams from across the country and Japan will compete against the best in wheelchair softball.

Because of the lack of teams in different areas of the country for many of the teams this tournament provides them the opportunity to play more  games then they will all year and against the best teams and athletes in the country.

The Major League Wheelchair Softball Tournament is held at Citifield in New York in Sept each year. Hosted by the Rollin Mets, Wheelchair Sports Federation and NY Mets.

The Major League Wheelchair Softball Tournament consist of teams with some type of sponsorship from a Major League Baseball team. Teams such as the RIC Cubs, Tampa Bay Rays, NY Mets, NY Yankees, Courage Rollin Twins, Chicago White Sox and Rollin Red Sox have competed in the Tournament.
