Help The Albany Marching Falcons Go To France

Please support the Albany Marching Falcons’ efforts to raise money for their June 2019 trip to France to participate in the official parade and other activities honoring the 75th anniversary of D-Day.   Many of us have someone in our family that served in World War II, and in June we will make the journey to France and pay a musical tribute to the Greatest Generation as a thank you for their sacrifices. The Albany Marching Falcons are the City School District of Albany’s marching band and color guard. The group is made up of district students in grades 6 through 12.   Their journey will take them to Paris and Caen, the capital of Normandy. On June 6, the group will march along Omaha Beach from Vierville-sur-Mer to St. Laurent-sur-Mer, two towns liberated during the Normandy invasion by American and Allied forces. They'll also participate in the wreath-laying ceremony at the Normandy American cemetery, In addition, the group will perform several times in both Paris and Caen.   Between performances, the group will tour various monuments and historical sites. From Director Bryan Cady: "To be able to bring this generation of students to Omaha Beach, and to help them both understand and FEEL what WWII was is both a great responsibility, and an honor. These kids, through music, will say thank you and let the world know that we have not forgotten the sacrifices made by the greatest generation That the conflict, and that the lives lost and lives forever changed, are not things relegated to movies and video games. We remember. And we are grateful. And we will be honored to say thank you."
