Disney trip for cancer patient & family

At the age of 29, my friend Jessica was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer.  At the time, her three children were ages 4, 6, & 8.  With the help of chemo, radiation, and multiple surgeries, Jessica acheived remission, but now at nearly 33, she is now on her THIRD recurrence.  Jessica's husband Kevin suffers from type 1 diabetes, so he has been dealing with his own chronic health issues since childhood.  Both Jessica and Kevin run their own businesses and by some miracle, they are handling their day-to-day expenses and managing their medical expenses.  Jessica is thought to have a type of cancer that is chronic in nature.  It is likely that she will endure treatments on and off for most of her life, severely limiting the amount of quality time that she will have to spend with her children as they grow up.  

Everyone in this family loves Disney, but they have not been able to travel together since Jessica became ill and her recurrences have been so close together that saving up money for the trip in between has been impossible.  Jessica and Kevin's youngest child will have very few memories of their most recent trip together and as their children grow up, even the two older children will have spotty memores at best.  My goal is to help this family, whose children are now 8, 10, and 11, get back to the happeist place on Earth so that they can build more memories together that aren't shrouded in fear and pain.

I have registered to run the Tower of Terror 10-miler race on October 4, 2014 sponsored by runDisney.  I have entered this race to raise money for Jessica and her family to be able to go to Disney for a week in December of this year.  I am asking you to consider making a per-mile donation.  It will only take 600 people making a $10 donation (that's $1 per mile) to reach this goal and send this awesome family on the trip of a lifetime.  If we are able to exceed the goal, we can make this trip even more magical for Jessica and her family by upgrading their accommodations or adding additonal days to their trip.  If you'd like to gift a specific component of the trip, please see the wish list section.

Thank you for your consideration.  There are many different ways we can help people and while sending a family on a trip may seem superfluous when compared to other goals we can help people accomplish, this is a way to help a real family create invaluable memories together and to give a cancer patient who is feeling very discouraged a goal to reach at the end of her treatment cycle.
