7.62 Precision CA Lawsuit Defense

Donation protected

7.62 Precision is a small, family-run business started by a disabled veteran in an attempt to find a way to support his family after sustaining combat injuries while deployed to Iraq. 7.62 Precision, located in Alaska, has always made a careful effort to follow all applicable laws while supporting  gun owners in the state of California.

The City of San Francisco, on behalf of the People of California, is suing 7.62 Precision and several other companies for selling and advertising magazine repair kits to residents of the state of California. This is not a criminal case, but a misuse of taxpayer money and the court system to attack out-of-state companies and Second Ammendment rights. It is a political grandstanding move using civil lawsuits.

If the City of San Francisco actually cared about what they claim, they could have simply contacted 7.62 Precision and we would have proved that we had stopped selling these kits as a result of a change in California law.

California law specifically allowed for the sale of replacement magazine parts to repair grandfathered pre-ban magazines in California. During that time 7.62 Precision sold magazine rebuild parts as one of several things we did to support law-abiding California gun owners. The State of California changed their law to prohibit the sale of full rebuild kits, and as a result, 7.62 Precision stopped selling these kits.

On our website, the item was changed to out of stock, unavailable for backorder, and set to be an item unavailable for purchase from the store. The item page and category were set to not display on the web site. There was no way to order this item from our website, nor to view the item listing by navigating the site.

We did not realize that because the item had a manufacturer listed for the item, the defunct page could still be seen if found through an internet search. We believed there was no way to view that page.

In addition, due to other events, we temporarily suspended our sales and have not been selling any products. No products can be purchased from our website until we are ready to restart the business.

7.62 Precision is not selling magazine repair kits to anyone, and especially not to residents of California.

7.62 Precision has not been earning any money from sales for quite some time, and it will be some weeks before we are ready to resume sales. This has left our company and family in a difficult financial situation, and unable to afford legal defense without assistance. This lawsuit threatens more than just a faceless corporation, it threatens the survival of a family.

All donated funds will be used to hire a law firm that was successful in defending other companies in a previous lawsuit of the same kind, brought by the City of San Francisco. Donations will also help reduce the financial burden of other small businesses who are also being sued in the same lawsuit.

Donations will be used to send a message to the City of San Francisco and to the State of California that law-abiding gun owners will not stand by and allow California politicians to abuse the court system in order to force their unconstitutional ideals on citizens and businesses in other states.

Without your help, the City of San Francisco will win this lawsuit by default. We do not know what the full results of that will be, as they are seeking unspecified damages as well as specified, plus all court costs and the city's costs in preparing the lawsuit. What we do know is that a default judgment in this suit will be devestating to our family in many different ways, and will only encourage more of these lawsuits to be filed against other honest companies.
