Hello everyone! My name is Nyambeki. I’m 21 yrs old and a junior in college. I attend school in Nebraska at a private institution hoping to complete a degree in Biomedical Science/Pre-Pharamacy.
I am here because of recent events that have taken place in my life. I recently came out as being bisexual and actively in a relationship with my girlfriend (who I love very much). I decided that it was important to come out to my mother because she is a very important person in my life. However, when I told her, she completely shut me out and withdrew all of her financial support for school. She left me to pay for my college tuition on my own. At that moment, I was crushed because my dad already does not support me financially so I knew I had no one. I realized that I then had to either choose to be myself, OR go back into a closet I had stayed in for practically my whole life (for my moms sake and the sake of having financial support).
The decision was made and I chose to be myself and continue to live my life for who I wanted to be and not who my mom wanted me to be. However, there have been setbacks that I’ve had to face along with that. I’ve had to transition to fending for myself. Thankfully, my amazing cousin and her husband have been so gracious to let me live with them while going to school. However, I’ve already fallen behind on payments for school and I can’t do this alone. I need the support of you guys. I just want to be able to graduate and succeed in life. I know this will all be worth it in the end.
