Help our teacher heal

Our wonderful teacher is fighting cancer and we want to clear the way for her to focus on healing by removing the worry of lack of sick days and lost income.  During the treatment she will have exhausted all of her accumulated  sick leave days and will be using extended sick leave, which is the regular salary minus the cost of the substitute teacher. Her colleagues will be donating sick days, but they will not be available until the next school year. 

We are looking to raise $10,000. This will cover the cost of her substitute teacher for the rest of the school year, medical copayments and deductibles, and additional lost income when her husband takes time off to care for her and their family.

She is an impeccable teacher who has taught at Glen Park School for 17 years.  Technically, she stands out as a true professional who is dedicated to her craft.  She approaches each student as an individual in order to help them maximize their progress in their academic endeavours.  Her dedication and love for her students can’t be understated. Just a few days after her surgery, she took the time to write out 22 completely personalized notes to the students in the class thanking them for their support, telling them she missed them dearly and encouraging them to continue working hard.  The students were deeply saddened to learn that she would not return this academic year and they all promise to be on their best behavior for their substitute teacher.

She has nurtured our children and now it is time for us to take care of her.  We can come together as a community and help to lift the financial strain this or any major medical diagnosis can put on a family.   

Please help our teacher get better so that this fall, she can return to the classroom and bring her magic to Glen Park School.
