Eating disorder photography project
Spende geschützt
About six months ago I began a personal photography project aimed at capturing my journey through an eating disorder in a way that empowers me and allows me to take back some of the control my illness takes from me.
I have been asked to showcase my work in an exhibition for mental health awareness month in October. I’ve also been asked to present my work and give a talk to the staff and students at The Australian College of Applied Psychology in Sydney. I am very excited about both of these invitations and I look forward to sharing my work.
Rather than focus on the physical side of an eating disorder, which is just a symptom, I’ve placed emphasis on the mental state, which is where it derives. Although it is different for every sufferer, I have also tried to show the suffering and agony that accompanies an illness such as mine in hope that it will allow people a better understanding.
I feel extremely lucky that my project has grown into something that I had never imagined but along with that I have incurred expenses that I am unable to cover. I’m working with an amazing photographer who is helping me re-capture my photo’s and capture other’s that I have been unable to. I have applied and been approved access to a goal to take a photo inside a cell but I have to pay for my own insurance whilst visiting the goal. I also need to be able to print and frame all of my photo’s to showcase in the exhibition.
I have turned to Go Fund Me in hope that I can raise the money to cover these costs. Any help in achieving this goal would be greatly appreciate.
Many thanks
Jaimie
