Lokita Carter needs help

Lokita Carter needs your help. After returning from Costa Rica to the U.S. for Lokita’s cancer treatment, the unthinkable occurred when Steve was gunned down while walking their dog, Coco, on a hiking trail in Fairfax, California on October 5, 2015.

Lokita and her late husband, Steve, have enriched the lives of many thousands of couples and singles in hundreds of seminars and Tantra workshops since 1999.

My name is Logan Rose. I worked with Steve & Lokita for over 8 years at Ecstatic Living Institute, which I now own and direct. I am now asking for your support on Lokita's behalf in the form of a donation in memory of her beloved husband, Steve.

What happened?
In December 2014, after 16 years in Northern California and teaching Tantra across the US and in Central America, Lokita and Steve moved to Costa Rica to "rewire”. They let go of their business, their home and belongings, to live a simpler life and teach less, which reduced their income significantly.

Then, on July 24th, 2015, in Costa Rica, Lokita was diagnosed with an extremely rare, aggressive and invasive form of breast cancer. The diagnosis came after almost 10 months of extensive medical testing - four benign biopsies, several ultrasound exams, blood tests, various creams and ointments, two lumpectomies, and overall, the intensity and stress of the unknown. A second opinion in the USA and more medical tests confirmed the serious and life-threatening diagnosis. 
 
In August, 2015 Steve and Lokita moved to Marin County so that Lokita could receive the best possible treatment at the Marin Cancer Institute. Lokita is currently in treatment, receiving weekly chemotherapy infusions, and will need a mastectomy and radiation therapy after that.

Then, on October 5, 2015, the unthinkable occurred. Steve was gunned down while walking their dog, Coco, on a hiking trail in Fairfax. Few of us can imagine the shock and horror of such a tragedy. And this, on top of Lokita’s cancer diagnosis and treatment.

What’s Needed
Your help is needed to support Lokita financially. Since Lokita is not yet 60, she is ineligible to receive surviving spouse benefit (Steve was receiving social security income), which has been essential. Although Lokita now has US health insurance, out-of-pocket medical expenses are expected to reach over $65,000.

In addition to out-of-pocket medical expenses, ancillary healing services (energy work, massage, acupuncture, psychotherapy, etc. to ensure that Lokita receives the best treatment for healing her body, mind and spirit, and to overcome this great loss and aggressive cancer) are estimated at $25,000.

Relocating to the U.S., travel and extra living expenses are expected to reach approximately $35,000, bringing her total unexpected expenses to $125,000 over the next 12 months. Being on a fixed monthly income that went a long way in Costa Rica, but not so in the USA, Lokita finds herself, alone, without her beloved partner, Steve, in a scary and tight financial spot.
