Redefine Beauty - Redefine Yourself!

Hello everyone! I'm on a mission and I hope that you can help me.
Did you know that the majority of girls and women feel negatively about their bodies and live in a state of self-objectificaton, viewing themselves from an outsider's perspective?
Did you know that 50% of study participants were "severely dissatisfied" with their bodies, with another 34% feeling "generally dissatisfied"?
Did you know that 71% of participants described themselves in self-objectifying terms and reported isolating themselves from everyday life due to body shame?
We are constantly bombarded by the media with unrealistic expectations of a woman's beauty. Messages that encourage women to attain the unattainable. Digitally manipulated (commonly referred to as photoshopped) media is now an unquestioned standard for girls and women, with the unrealistic ideal becoming the norm.
This is not okay. It's time to stop the madness and it's time to redefine beauty! You might be thinking, "But how? This is a huge problem!" Well, home is where the heart is, so I'm starting with my community and I need your help to make it happen.
Here's the plan. I want to bring the "beauty REDFINED" speaking tour to Sandpoint, Idaho on Saturday, June 14th. The tour features the co-directors of the Beauty Redefined Foundation, Lindsay and Lexie Kite (both Ph.D.s!), to promote positive body image and health where it's needed most - everywhere!
My goal is to raise $5,000 to cover the costs associated with this event, including the 50 minute visual presentation plus Q&A with the presenters, venue rental, advertising, follow up workshops and a whole lot more. I'm partnering with the Eureka Institute (http://eureka-institute.org/), a fantastic non-profit organization here in Sandpoint, to make this a reality. We intend to offer this for free to the community and your donation will help make this a reality. Plus, tour fees directly support the beauty REDEFINED Foundtion and all of the important work they do!
It's time to stop the body hatred, the eating disorders and unhealthy focus on appearance. If this resonates with you or your loved ones, please consider donating. I'm doing this for myself, my daughter, my son and for my community. Who will you step up for?
Please help me pack the Panida Theater on June 14th with girls and women, boys and men. Together we can make this happen, all 550 of us!
Thank you for your support from the bottom of my heart,
Shannon
