Support the Green Family

Donation protected
As many of you may know already, Zipi, Mia and Zoe lost their wonderful Muli unexpectedly this week.  Both Zipi and Muli have been much-loved, deeply engaged members of their Brooklyn community, and now is our opportunity to return that love and help the family through this difficult moment.

So many people have asked how they can help - inspiring us to begin this GoFundMe on their behalf.  In addition to being so present in his kids' lives and their school, Muli was his family's primary bread-winner.  Zipi now faces the challenge of both supporting the girls in the near-term and preparing for their future.  She faces both unexpected costs in the coming weeks, and the significant long-term costs of maintaining the shape of their lives, giving the girls as much consistency as she can.

We know the many people whose lives they touched are eager to give back.  We're so grateful.  Any amount goes a long way for Zipi, Mia and Zoe.

With love & appreciation,
Yael & Shanti

Our Muli / By Shai Zurim

A picture: near the front door of Zipi’s studio, Muli is surrounded by kids, a shade of laughter in his eyes, he expertly rolls a Rubix cube in his hands, finishing the job to the sound of cheering children. The heavy door slams shut.

Beloved Muli
The last time I saw you, you took the time to tell me how you enjoyed teaching my daughter Mika to write code. You kept listing her many virtues, knowing it will warm my heart, and in order not to sound as if you’re exaggerating, you lay your hand on my shoulder and softly said to me: This is all true!

Later, over a glass of whisky, you pulled out an old photo of a young officer charging the unknown. The officer was naturally you. I wonder if you ever stopped fighting that battle.

And then you helped and advised and gave some compliments. You remembered my needs, my wishes, my questions. I find in those moments great meaning: of innocence, warmth, generosity, kindness, unending courage, unconditional giving, built in responsibility to the other, determination, nobility, friendship and fatherhood. All this I see and remember in that one moment that is engraved in my heart – all this kindness and beauty that we were all lucky to experience and enjoy.

Muli my heart, a singular soul. I could not have asked for a more wonderful friend to myself and a better uncle to my daughters. You were a solid rock, a partner, a teacher, a friend, a compass and roll model. Your loss leaves unimaginable void in our lives and darkens in one moment so many lights and memories. I just want you to know that for us, the ones who love you, your will is loud and clear.

Zipi, Mia, Zoe, there are no words or deeds to comfort you in your loss! And even so, we are here, in front of you, along with you. A simple community of friends who love you, who swear to always be there for you, in good and bad, always, every day, every hour, every minute. We will hold your hands, embrace and support you. What else can we do?

Muli, you taught us love and friendship, generosity and wisdom of the heart. You were the one that binds, complement, you were a man of unconditional love and real hope.

Rest in peace, beloved friend!
