Savannah in Spain

I am raising money to go on a study abroad trip to Spain during the summer. I am going to take two classes to fulfill requirements for my Spanish minor. I am majoring in Communicative Disorders to be a speech therapist and I hope to be able to use my minor in Spanish to one day travel abroad and do mission work with underprivaledged disabled children in other countries. To have the opportunity to travel abroad is so much more than a dream come true, and just the idea makes my heart jump with joy, not only at the temporary fun of it, but at the long term joy this opportunity has the potential to bring to my carreer. I never even really dared to dream this big until I came to college because it seemed so impossible and there were so many obstacles that seemed to stand in the way. I have Cerebral Palsy and use a wheelchair often, so obviously this makes traveling in Europe a bit more difficult, but I am determined to not let that stop me. This trip is part of fulfilling what I want to do with the rest of my life so I am not going to let my disability get in the way. In addition to the cost of tuition there are many other costs along with my trip including travel, food, and wheelchair accessories. I have found that I will have to pay extra expenses for transporting my chair throughout some of the modes of transportation in Europe. I am also going to have to buy a special set of tires and maybe even new wheels for my chair before I leave. These extra expenses along with everything else are really starting to add up, and I would greatly appreciate any support you would like to give me. I really think that being immersed in the culture while also being in the classroom learning the language is really going to help my understanding of the language and help me retain it better. My hope is that through this trip I will become a better spanish speaker. I was always taught to dream big, but one thing I've learned growing up, is that dreams always come with a cost, but when paid, that cost is well worth it.
