Keenan's Final Stage GRS
Donation protected
Hello,
My name is Keenan and I was born female bodied but from a very young age realized that that was a terrible mistake. I have embarked on the not so easy road of Gender Transition to finally become the man I know in my heart that I am.
This road to manhood has been a really hard struggle for me, not knowing from one day to the next if I would make it another day. I have always struggled with sense of self, feeling trapped in a body that never felt like mine has been tortuous and overwhelming at best.
I am unable to work full time, and am on a disability pension for Depression and OCD, this is exacerbated by feeling in limbo with regards to my body and not feeling like a complete man. I do however hold a part time job and work hard at it. Unfortunately my income does not allow for me to take on an endeavor as great as this. I am asking for your help to leave this chapter in my life behind and start a new one as the man I was supposed to be.
A Little about my Journey
I began Hormone Therapy in 1994 followed closely by a Hysterectomy/Oopherectomy and Double Masectomy in 1996. In 1998 I had Phalloplasty, a surgical creation of a penis.
I have waited twenty years for the final stage, which includes penile and testicular protheses and Glansplasty, a shaping of the head of the penis, mainly due to the fact that I wanted to wait until there were better techniques and higher success rates....and truth be told I was a little scared but that time is now.
I have been Approved, by Alberta Health, to have these surgeries done in Montreal, Quebec by Dr Brassard and his team of surgeons. The specific prostheses I want are still only available in Europe but Health Canada is on the cusp of approving them for use within Canada and I want to be ready when they are. The prostheses, ZSIFTM are made specifically for Transmen and have a much higher success rate than other prostheses used which are typically made for erectile dysfunction in Cis gendered men.
With this in mind I am hoping to raise money so that I can stay in Montreal for a month while I heal and to make sure my recovery is smooth. I have done some research and it will cost between $3000-5000 ,depending on the time of year, for accommodation while I am in Montreal.
I am having a caregiver accompany me and I need to also raise money for their flight. Upon looking into flight cost it will be anywhere from $700-1000 depending on the season.
There are additional expenses that I need to cover the cost of including:
Food
Transportation
Medical Supplies
Pet care for my dog while I am away
With your support I hope to make this dream a reality...any little bit helps me realize my goal. If you are unable to donate you could help by passing my story along.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read. Any extra funds will be re- donated to a Trans-person in need.
