that you have brought back to the Murungi’s family.
With your overly generous contributions, Nick’s attorney was able to free him from ICE detention and he’s currently enjoying a great time with his family. The legal fees you raised went toward hiring a good lawyer and Kent and I cannot thank you enough for taking on a brave fight that was indeed worthy. I call it ‘brave’ because some of us were skeptical.
We’ll keep the GoFundMe account open for those that are still interested in taking a second step to help Nick settle down and take care of the bills that have accrued for over 6 months.

On Wednesday, May 29,
Nicholas was released from custody and granted a Green card. Finally!!!!!! Now begins the road to the future. Nick continues to live with us and is now busily trying to put many pieces back together. Please wish him well as he endeavors on this journey.

I am reaching out to you because we have started a GoFundMe campaign to get my nephew Nicholas Murungi out of ICE detention in Minnesota. Nick has an immigration issue that may be solvable with a lawyer but he doesn’t have one. The $3000 raised so far isn’t even enough to help retain a lawyer with his court hearings. Kindly, make an urgent donation to this initiative and share it with your network. I know that money can be tight but whatever you can give will help get us closer to our $10,000 goal. This is a GoFundMe for Nicholas Murungi, who is currently being held by ICE for possible deportation. He has been in custody in Sherburne County, MN since Dec 15, 2018. $10,000 is a lofty goal but we will be grateful for whatever amount you can give. The most pressing concern is retaining a lawyer to help Nick with his court hearings and that will cost a minimum of $4000.
In addition to lawyer fees, Nick will also need funds to help get back on his feet once his case is decided one way or the other. Some of the know costs that he will be facing include: Rent, Car expenses, child support back pay, plus all the bills, fines and fees that have been accruing since his detention.
Some history: Jacki and Kent Sall sponsored Nick to come for schooling 13 years ago. They supported him as he earned his Registered Nursing license. Nick has been working in the health care industry ever since. He has two sons; Trey (9) who lives with his mom in Forest Lake, MN and Mark (6) who lives with his mom in Minneapolis.
