Help Gabby beat cancer AGAIN

Hi everybody, my name is Kaitlyn Cranham and I want to tell you a little bit about the most brave and beautiful girl I know inside and out, my best friend, Gabby Mayfield. I am making this GoFundMe for Gabby because she recently was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma for the second time in the past two years. She is 22 years old and is currently a student trying to finish her degree at Old Dominion University. She was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma for the first time when she was 20. At that time she did 6 months of ABVD treatment, which is an outpatient treatment with very little side effects, and she was put into remission in August of 2015. Her oldest sister was also diagnosed with the same cancer just weeks after Gabby, she thankfully has since stayed in remission, but you can imagine how devastating this was for this family.
Two years later after her initial diagnosis Gabby’s cancer has come back. Treatment will be much more intensive this time. Currently she is doing an inpatient treatment called ICE where she is in the hospital for up to four days while she receives treatment. She will do about three rounds of this before she is placed in VCU’s Cancer Center where she will receive a round of harsher chemo called BEAM. It is so harsh that it will destroy her stem cells in her bones, due to this she will immediately begin a stem cell transplant and be under strict monitoring. Due to the nature of this treatment she will be required to live in the hospital for up to two months.
Gabby being the insanely driven woman that she is, will still be continuing her education while receiving treatment, because she is DETERMINED to graduate in May. Although she is missing classes due to treatment she is receiving help from her teachers so that she can graduate on time. She had to take a semester off last time she received treatment, and she does not want this to hold her back a second time. She is scheduled to start her harsh round of treatment at VCU six days after she walks across the stage in May.
As you can imagine this the hospital bills, chemo, scans, and everything in between add up very quickly and Gabby’s mom has been amazing taking care of both Gabby (and her sister) by herself. I want to raise money to ease the financial strain, no one should have to go through this once, and most definitely not twice. Almost all of the money will go towards Gabby’s medical bills, but I would like to take a small amount of money to put towards travel for Gabby after she kick’s cancers butt a second time. She is 22 and she has had to deal with more than anyone our age should deal with. Gabby loves to travel more than anything and I want her to have something to look forward to after she fights this fight and wins.
Any of you who have had the pleasure of knowing Gabby knows what an amazing person she is. She truly is one of the most loyal, caring, and hilarious people I have ever met. I am beyond lucky that I have been given the gift of calling her my best friend over the last nine years and it is the worst thing in the world seeing someone you love so much go through this AGAIN.
Please consider donating, anything helps and is greatly appreciated!!!! Please share,! Thank you in advance!
Cheers to Gabby and to beating cancer AGAIN.
