Building family a house in Congo

Donation protected
We are building a clean, sanitary and safe house for Jackson, Angelina, their children and grand children.   This is our son-in-law's family in Democratic Republic of Congo.  I have spent much time with our family there over two trips to Congo.  Our daughter and their son became engaged in 2006 and married in 2008.  After years of civil war and a volatile economy Jackson and Angelina lost everything and their business.  Now those years have past but the economy is bad and living conditions are still bad.  They live in a tiny rented house with poor sanitation and polluted drinking water.  Malaria is often a problem and Jackson has diabetes as well.  We determined that the best way we could help was to build a clean, safe sanitary house to improve their health and allow them to grow their own food.  In 2008 we began to build.  1st we bought land, next built a construction shed, then built a security wall with razor wire to keep them protected.  Last year a quality well was drilled for the property so now there is clean water.  Currently we are building the house.  The foundation and walls are up as you see in the picture.  Jackson is on the future porch.

WHY DO WE NEED YOUR HELP?
To date we (our family and friends in the USA) have spent over $52,000.  Incredible, isn't it?!  In Congo labor is cheap but land and building materials can equal or be more than in the States. The house is almost finished, walls are up, we still need a roof, floors, doors & windows.  When completed it will be a very simple house but able to house 6 to 10 people.  We are so close to getting it to the point they can move in.  There still will not be a working kitchen, bath, plumbing, electricity or finished plaster walls (rough brick currently).  We would like to do these things as well if enough money comes.

COST FOR THESE THINGS
1st NEEDED - to move in
ROOF, FLOORS, DOORS & WINDOWS
$12,000

2nd NEEDS - to make living more funtional
BATH ROOM, KITCHEN, PLUMBING, ELECTRICITY, PLASTER BRICK WALLS
$12,000

These cost are good estimates based on experience and history with the project.  With a volatile economy prices will very widely from week to week so actual cost will vary.

Thank you for your thoughts and consideration to help our family.

blessing to you.
