I am Fighting Colon Cancer

Donation protected
Colon Cancer has become a part of my life this year,  which has changed my life and my families life.

This year was the year for my first colonoscopy.  I went to my appointment with no concerns. Immediately following the procedure, the doctor came out to tell my husband and I that a large cancer mass was found.  That was not even a thought in our minds, a total breath taking shock.  This happened on a Monday and by the end of the week, I had a CT scan,, met with a surgeon and Oncologist.  The surgeon was concerned because the tumor was very low in my rectum and embedded in the wall of my colon.   It was a whirlwind how fast they scheduled appointments for me to get my treatments started.

I started getting  chemo and radiation every day hoping it would kill the tumor.  Then surgery to remove the tumor and an astomy bag placed.  I was in the hospital for 11 days instead of 5 because my stoma was not responding. There were several nerves removed because of the location of the tumor.  The surgeon said that the tumor did not take the treatments as hoped and it was still mostly alive.  I am now back on a stronger dose of chemo for 3-4 months.  This is an insurance in hopes of killing any cancer that may be underlying or spread.

In addition to all that has happened and happening, now the chemo is affecting my teeth and I have to get extensive dental work.

I have missed a lot of work, my medical and dental  bills are building up with more to come.

I have such support, especially my husband who has been my rock.  My family and my employer.  I can't thank them enough for being there for me.

If there is any chance of financial help, I would be extremely grateful.  I am not one to put something like this out and still have mixed feelings about it but I would also like to take some of the pressure off my husband who is contemplating a second job. He already works 10-11 hours a day at a high pressure, emotional job.

Thank you and bless you!!!

I do ask that everyone get their colonoscopy and also tell your family and friends to do the same.  I had no warning and if I hadn't went for my first routine examine, my doctor told me I probably wouldn't have been here in another 2-3  years.   I am here now and going to keep fighting.  My doctor told me that if I would have put off the exam, I probably wouldn't be her in 2-3 years.  I am here now and fighting.
