Refugee - Save Our Syrian (SOS)
Donation protected
“If we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other.”
― Mother Teresa
Zarah came from Syria to Canada a few years ago as a single mother. She had the courage to change her life, to escape the dangers she faced and bring her children to Canada. She left behind friends and family and watched Syria being torn apart by war, unable to help the people she loves. Until now.
We have heard the stories as millions flee. It seems hopeless but Canada provides the opportunity for us to help through private sponsorship. It was at a refugee meeting this past November that Zarah looked for help and found people willing to join her. People looking for a chance to make a difference but not knowing how they could help. Until now.
Zarah's sister is also a single mother, forced to flee Syria with a daughter of 7. Her home is destroyed, her community in ruins, and there is no place to return to. Zarah wishes to reunite with her sister and bring them to Canada to start a new life. After hearing Zarah's story our group of six formed, committed to bring her sister and niece to Canada and support them through their resettlement. Our legal obligations include raising $21,000. We are hoping to raise this amount within the next month. You can help with a donation of any amount. Together we can make a difference and reunite these sisters and their children.
The following funds will be used to emotionally and financially support Zarah's sister for the full sponsorship period-usually one year.
If you have questions or concerns, please share them in the comment section and we will response in due course.
With Hope,
Wendy F., Phil D., Hamida K., Erin O., Melissa M., John Y, with Zarah.
* Note: For security purposes, we did not disclose information on Zarah's sister identity.
