Bosco's Story

I am a big boy for a Border Collie, 73 lbs., my brother Paris was pretty much half my size. We were best buddies and he went to the spirit world two years ago. I got really down in my paws and gained weight, was snappy. So my masters decided to see if I could come cross country to Colorado. My current caretaker, MJ, short for Mary Jane, showed me a landscape that was open space, something my grandfather new in Scotland. I have been running and fetching and climbing mountains every since. Taking care of my three sisters, all furries of the cat orientation. Blossom, the Birman, the smallest one is my best friend, we sometimes go on walks together. The dogs in our neighborhood do not know what to make of this, but hey you all, try walking with a cat. Gotta tell you she has an attitude-- snuck out the other night (we found out she hid under the chair by the door, and when we can back in from a walk, she slipped out) afterwhich, she had to huddle under the steps to our house in Garden of the Gods. Otherwise, she was going to be an appetizer for much larger version of her species. MJ, who thought she was on her bed, which is my dog bed, found her crying at sunrise. Bloody hell, it was 43 degrees Fahrenheit--okay for my Scottish blood but Blossom? . She is currently on house arrest. MJ was freaked out, cause Blossom has been one of her best friends. But then Abigail, the Tiger, is the strong silent type—meaning do not mess-- and Clementine, half Birman and Calico, is shy and cuddles, thinks she owns the studio were we all hang out—but hey we have worked out the space arrangements. We all were a bit upset that morning. Stood at the door while MJ brought our Blossom back in.
The other day near a full moon, the mountain lions were out, followed by the skunks and MJ and I stood on the top step of our home at 2am and dared not to go down. She thought I wanted to pee but I heard some rustling and we just felt eyes on us, I guided us back into the house. When we went out at sunrise, she leashed me and I watched out for her. I peed on the tracks of that lion--I want her to know we have a safe place and as long as I am here, I shall take care of my family. But no contact with the beauty of the lion, the wild thing that they are.
Last week MJ took me to see Dr. Sudduth at one of my favorite places, Northwest Animal Hospital. It is my doggie hotel when MJ decides she needs to go on a trip without me, (not often) and where I get groomed and get my shots. My friend Takia goes there too, she is a Norweigan spitz, kinda high strung and young for such an old boy like me, but we are okay walking with each other in the mountains and playing when we are here. I know she likes me.
Well Dr. Sudduth says I have a blood vessel tumor and it has to be removed. I already know that, cause it hurts a lot. And he said we could amputate, but hell no, I am a border collie, gotta roam. He told my caretaker, our MJ, that it is going to cost $1,200.98. What he does not know is that we live a life of simplicity and that is beyond our means.
So I am writing this letter to all of you to ask you can you help us out a bit with a small offering. My promise is to do good and take care of my family and when you all visit, take you on a walk in our beautiful garden of red rocks that lead up to Pikes Peak. So please visit, we love company and when you get treats, my sisters and I get treats.

Sincerely
