I’m Dan Burns, your everyday-familiar family member, friend, coworker, neighbor, coffee shop regular, business commuter, progressive artist and …someone that has been touched by Schizophrenia.

The Fremont Sunday Market on October 2nd 2016 date was a success. The weather was great and so were the patrons. Thank you to everyone who has contributed so far. The positive thoughts and comments have renewed my vigor for this project.

How can an artist be capable of pulling these events off? I moved to Seattle after being transferred by the corporation I was working for. While in Seattle, I was general operations manager for two companies before going back to school. I attended the University of Washington’s Foster School of Business; I received my Bachelor of Business Administration with an option in Entrepreneurship and a minor in political science. I graduated within the anticipated time and I was soon picked up by an up-start firm as a project manager.

This was my life until 2008, when my brain disorder changed my life.

This project means a lot to me. It has been the beginnings of putting my life back on track after schizophrenia derailed it. The art has been a therapy; a visual way to share and process. It has helped me revisit periods of delusion and practice strategies for finding balance.

This project also lets me utilize my business skills and education. The task of event planning and budgeting is familiar and comforting; a relief, as I have shied from heavy responsibility.  The joint pressure of this project is empowering.

Over the past eight years I have grown with my disorder. I have reclaimed many parts of my life. The struggle can now be shared. This project should help those that are not affected see our world, and hopefully help some of those that are suffering to see my strategy and maybe look harder for their own.

For eight years this project has been evolving, I believe by working on this project I have been realigning myself spiritually, artistically and professionally. I feel this project has given me another chance at life and with your contribution you will be supporting that. For that I cannot say thank you enough.

Thank You
