#HimaraRights Urgent Fundraiser

Tax deductible
The Himarrioton Society of America needs your help to support our #HimaraRights fundraiser campaign. Funds are urgently needed before October 2017.

Why?
Why does the Albanian government not allow its citizens of Himara, Albania to own their property? Why does that government destroy their homes and churches, steals their land, and proclaims it is doing so in the name of economic development? Why do they withhold property rights from those whose families have lived on the land for centuries?

And why should you care?

Since 1991 property rights have hobbled the Republic of Albania more than any other issue. Flawed laws coupled with endemic corruption govern the privatization of properties appropriated by the former communist regime. Only in Himara does the government not give the populace any legal title to their homes, fields, and properties 26 years after the end of communism. The reason is simple: the land is valuable, located on the 'Albanian Riviera'. High government officials in cahoots with kingpins are stealing the land for their benefit.

But the issues go deeper than that.

In Himara resides a sizable Greek minority living alongside their Albanian brethren. A program targeting the demolition of homes, businesses and a church in the name of urban planning and touristic development is conducted in order to intimidate Himarriotans and drive them from the area.

We are the Himarrioton Society of America.

Since 2011 we have been working to promote the well being of our community,  preserve our heritage, assist our fellow Himarriotans in Himara, and support charitable efforts.

So why should you care?
Because we advocate for equal rights for all citizens of Albania including those in Himara. We believe that is the basis for progress and stability in the region.

Your donations to the #HimaraRights campaign will benefit our efforts to advocate for property rights laws that meet international expectations and standards. Funds are urgently needed prior to September 2017 in order for our efforts to have optimal effect.

100% of all funds raised go towards their intended goal.
All our member are unpaid volunteers.

As a registered non-profit, your donations are fully tax deductible.
