Ms. Breukelman's Classroom

In early June, I moved to Dallas, TX to begin my two year committment with Teach for America. In just under a month, I will begin teaching English at one of the lowest performing middle schools in the Dallas-Fort Worth region. Located in an area plagued by poverty and crime, there are many factors that have the potential to negatively affect my students. My goal for this next year is that all my students leave my classroom with the skills necessary to understand and gain knowledge from texts, to use new knowledge and understanding to write, to write in a way that can be understood by others, and most importantly become empowered by writing and reading so that my students can become advocates for themselves and others.

In order to meet this goal, I need YOUR help.

Due to the lack of resources within my school, I am responsible for purchasing most of the supplies I need for my classroom and students. As a middle school teacher, I could potentially have 150 students daily. As you can imagine, providing supplies to this many students can become fairly expensive.

It is imperative that my students have the necessary resources to be successful. Please help me provide this for my students as we learn and grow together!
