Africa Healthcare and Conservation

I will be volunteering this summer with a great organization called African Impact where I plan to work on Community Healthcare and Hands-on Lion Conservation. This project will be located in Zimbabwe.  

I'm currently a master's student at The University of Alabama studying Clinical Mental Health Counseling.  From my learning in this program so far, I have found value in the sense of being present and attentive to people and advocating for those that have little to no voice.  I have learned to focus on the important pieces in our lives that add value and for me, those pieces are the people around me.  Whether it's a stranger, friend, or family member, everything should be coated in love when interacting with these people.  After all, love is the greatest thing for which we can aspire for, and if we use that as our driving force, it may not change the world but it could change the world for someone.

The people of Zimbabwe are in need of healthcare, love, and support.  While there are always people on the ground helping, there is always a need for more help.  I believe that sharing our time and love for others shapes a great future for everyone.  The stories and memories of the people I will interact with from different cultures and backgrounds will last forever.  

My goal is set for $5000 to cover travel expenses, program costs, travel insurance, a travel visa, and other minor things I need. If I reach my goal, it is my hope to donate at least $1000 to one of their partner charities which are The Happy Africa Foundation and Alert or donate $500 to each.
