AMIREDIS: Support Disabled Migrants
Donation protected
I am an administrator at a community college that had the privilege of inviting some of the men of AMIREDIS to our campus to be interviewed. After hearing their stories, I, along with members of the audience, felt compelled to assist these men in any way possible. Their needs are urgent. Once you look at their Facebook page, I am confident you will also want to help.
As noted on their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/AMIREDIS/ , AMIREDIS is a group of 13 Honduran migrants that were dismembered while riding the infamous "La Bestia" on their migration journey to the U.S. Their ultimate goal is to gain humanitarian visa for all mutilated immigrants who have experienced insurmountable obstacles from their countries. For more information, please take some time to look over their website: http://amiredis.org/
At this time, these men have received temporary asylum and will go before the court in the year 2019 to see if they will be granted permanent asylum status. Their immediate needs are as follows:
- Funds for work permits
- The purchase of a van that is equipped with necessary handicap accommodations
- Assistance with rent
- Assistance with food
Thank you for your time and attention.
