Support Middle Eastern LGBTQ youth
Tax deductible
My name is Tony Eljallad I am an LGBTQ activist in metro Detroit, I am part of a non-profit organization called Al-GAMEA, an LGBTQ middle eastern group that supports youth that have been kicked out of their home for being gay. With the limited funds that we have, we are able help with the first month of rent. After the tragedy in Orlando, where our community was attacked. I saw the absolute need to address homophobia within the Arab community. We hope from our generation onwards that when someone comes out in our community, they are not disowned or threatened with death. I know that if we can address homophobia within our community we could prevent tragedies like Orlando from being repeated. I hope in addition to helping young LGBTQ people that have been disowned, we can address the larger issue, which is homophobia within the Arab community. I hope through social marketing and creating dialogues with Arab community leaders that I will not witness someone being kicked out for being gay. We currently have a funding raising event a few times a year called Arabian nights to help raise funds!
