The Al Audleman & Katie Jiminez Memorial Scholarship
In December 2017, Al Audleman passed away unexpectedly. Al was a veteran photographer and leading educator for over 30 years, preparing his fellow professionals to become Certified Professional Photographers. He was a Master Photographer, Photographic Craftsman, and a successful businessman, but it was his work teaching others that made him beloved of by many. Al’s dedication to sharing his time, knowledge and his talent made him a fixture in the PPA Affiliate School ranks where he helped hundreds of students build the confidence and knowledge to achieve the milestone of certification. In honor of Al's commitment to education, this fund was created.
Katie Jiminez, who was instrumental in the creation of this fund, passed away just one month later. Al and Katie were dear friends and we felt that it was fitting to honor them together for a cause that was close to both of their hearts.
In so many ways, Katie Jiminez was the heart of the Georgia photographic community. Vivacious, bubbly, and endlessly talented, Katie lit up any room she graced. An accomplished photographer, Katie held her Photographic Craftsman degree and received her Master of Photography degree at Imaging USA in January 2018. When not running a successful photography business alongside her husband, Kevin Jiminez, Katie found time to be an integral part of the annual Georgia Professional Photographers Association state convention, manage Georgia’s photographic competition, and coordinate and manage Photoworks, Georgia’s affiliate school. Katie cared dearly for her association, her community, photographic education, and fellowship.
We've decided to continue the fund in both their names going forward in order to honor, in some small way, the everlasting contribution they each made to our community.
The Al Audleman & Katie Jiminez Memorial Scholarship will help pay tuition for students attending PPA Affiliate Schools. Our preliminary goal is to give at least two scholarships per affiliate school. There are currently 12 affiliate schools active for these scholarships to go to. All funds collected will be going towards these scholarships. The criteria for awarding the scholarships will be set forth when we have a better idea of the amount that we have to give and will be discussed among the group of affiliate school boards.
Please join us in creating this scholarship that honors their memories and their drive to help others. Thank you for your support.
