Sailor’s Dream

This campaign is an open-ended one revolving, in general, around Louis Tillett’s music and

creative projects in the pipelines. In some cases, it supports his most basic needs. But it has allowed him the 

space for creative endeavours many times over, which would not have otherwise been possible.

FEB 2023

LAST UPDATE: For the purposes of closing this gofundme campaign, which we do with the deepest gratitude and glad tidings, this will be the last update here. Louis is improving and doing relatively well, even after the close calls he had, due to rigorous testing, trial and error, misdiagnosis, Covid delays and shutouts for in hospital care, and inappropriate medications that pushed him to his limits. Thankfully, he bounced back before hitting the very bottom. Now, he is resting and recovering whilst responding well to alternative treatment, diet and lifestyle changes. His kidney function has miraculously plateaued. And now he must protect what function he has left with the best medical advice so far: STRESS LESS. Thanks to a recent deal with Wise Music Group, he has found a musical home, and some ability to enjoy his Autumn years, which looks to see his music spread far and wide, with a good dose of appreciation, acknowledgement and even some measure of prosperity. May this wind fill his sails and allow him to fulfill his dreams of sailing and dreaming. Perhaps he will dream up some new “sea shanties for the soul”.

JULY 2021

The past 18 months, despite a Global pandemic, have seen Louis performing more concerts, beginning new

collaborations, and continuing with his “Sailor’s Dream” on Patreon. Much of this has been made possible

directly because of the money raised here. For instance, Louis was able to replace his keyboard (which was lost

in the apartment fire in 2018). He has also been able to afford a place to live, rather than being boat-bound or forced to live in his van (a reality for him for many years up until 2015 when we started his very first gofundme

campaign. Since that time, he has played many concerts around Australia, including his last concert in March of 2021 which was Sold Out. Unfortunately he had to cancel the next concert due to ill health.

Sadly, since the beginning of 2021 his health has seen a serious decline. In June it became apparent that he had aserious Kidney dysfunction which is currently being investigated. He has been hospitalised in July 2021 for the

series of comprehensive tests, to determine the way forward. 

To assist him to be able to focus on seeking treatment and working towards recovery, or perhaps palliative care, depending on how his treatment goes, we have set up a Crowdfunding campaign with Support Act (from which 10% of funds raised will also go towards other Australian Musicians, Crew and Arts Workers in dire need of helpalso). However, we have decided to keep this open….as the other platform has a fickle payment system, that 

works sometimes, and not others.

DECEMBER 2020

After playing two of the very last concerts in Sydney, due to the Covid Pandemic Lockdown, with a brand new 

Keyboard and Harmonica (thanks to you our Donors) Louis has been focusing on Sailing and working on his low-key Patreon project.

In November 2020 he performed an impromptu performance at The Camelot Lounge as part of the

Great Southern Nights initiative to re-stimulate Live Music in Australia.

As of late December 2020, Louis has been invited back to the Camelot Lounge - for two nights in January 2021. He will be performing on the Baby Grand Piano. He has decided to dedicate these concerts to the very generous Patrons here, and on Patreon. Read the most recent update - for your invitation to the Guest List.

2019/2020

We hit a milestone in late October, in being able to buy a Digital Piano for upcoming concerts

in March 2020. Thank you all!

However, by request, we continue to leave it open for your invaluable support.

It seems help always arrives again at the right times, especially when a good idea

comes to fruition, and it needs real, financial support to get off the ground.

OVERVIEW

This is a platform to help Louis to keep his Music available, on his websites, and

other places, and to allow him to perform his music well into the future. 

LAST YEAR

Last year, due to a suspicious FIRE in Louis’ flat he lost almost everything of his

personal archives and music stock, his keyboard, and other musical effects and most of his personal possessions.

So, for a time, this gofundme turned into "Emergency relief" to assist us to travel to Sydney to assist police with their investigations. And of course, since so much was

destroyed, we, Louis, Rachael and Jack needed the most basic of provisions,

including clothes, toiletries, you name it...

HOWEVER, we fully intend, now that the dust has cleared, to get on with life and

begin playing Music again, in earnest.

THIS YEAR

Fast forward to October 2019

1 year on from the fire it’s about renewal and moving forward in a creative way.

The good news is, we raised enough to replace Louis’ KAWAII Keyboard and

also a smaller keyboard controller...for writing and recording music.

Thanks to you, we have seen a lot of forward movement in recent years

very much thanks to your support.

IN RECENT YEARS

We have:

Launched the band "The Art of Darkness" in March 2015.

Launched Two websites, including an Online Store.

We managed to do a couple of concerts in South East Queensland.

We also returned to the Factory Theatre with The Art of Darkness on 29/9/2017.

We repaired the Touring Van (which looks after Travel & Accommodation) - our trust old Toyota Hiace...which we were able to put on the road after an earlier gofundme campaign.

We have plans to do some more concerts in late 2019 around the Sydney Metropolitan area and surrounds, including Newcastle, Wollongong, Canberra and the Blue Mountains. Later, Interstate gigs will become possible too.

Further to this....

The projects Louis is pursuing from 2018 through 2019 include :

working on a New Album,

working on an Audio Book

and continued concerts and mini-tours.

The GOAL Amount set will NOT cover the costs of these projects fully.

But it WILL get things started, to help us to get a head-start on them.

To enable me to keep the whole show on the road, 

I have also created a Patreon platform - to give something

unique back to Patrons as I undertake these projects.

But it too, is a Creative Project, in it's own right.

These projects are already underway, and there are others in the Pipeline.

After some discussion with previous and current contributors to the crowdfunding family, we have decided it is best to adjust the goal amount, as we deal with the issues at hand.

As one is addressed, we will move onto the next. Thanks to your faith in the process, we will prioritize goals as we go, aschange is the only constant, but the costs continue...to keep the websites up, and to undertake collaborations and concerts,etc.
