Ali's Borneo volunteering funds
Donation protected
This June I am heading out to Borneo for three months to be a volunteer manager for Rayleigh International, a sustainable development charity who run projects in Africa, Asia and South America.
Raleigh runs expeditions which consist of challenging programmes that empower diverse, international groups of young people (17-25) to contribute to sustainable development projects. I am looking forward to being part of a team of volunteers of different nationalities and backgrounds. We will all be challenged to be the best we can and become part of a global community who care about building a sustainable future.
In order for me to take part I have to raise money through sponsorship. I am not just asking for money as I feel I need to do something more to earn it, so I have come up with a personal challenge.
My good friend Pete Wood and I will be walking coast to coast along Hadrians wall, 73 miles from the bank of the River Tyne near the North Sea to the Solway Firth on the Irish Sea. Although we would like to start in North Sheilds by the sea and finish in Bowness-on-Solway where we can see the Irish Sea. Route not planned exactly just yet but I believe it comes to 80/83 miles.
I will also be doing a separate event to raise the funds, an art auction. I work as an artist/illustrator and will be organising and auction of any work I have or perhaps ask other artists from my community to donate a piece.
Any donations, no matter how small will be greatly appreciated :)
