Early Anemia treatment saves lives!
Fiscaal aftrekbaar
The Society for the Advancement of Blood Management is a non-profit organization with the mission of improving the lives of people through early recognition and treatment of anemia, which has become a worldwide epidemic.
The World Health Organization identifies anemia as the number one Global health problem with approximately 30% of the world’s population suffering from anemia. Anemia is widely undertreated and ignored and can result in unnecessary blood transfusions that carry risk and result in billions of wasted healthcare dollars.
Unrecognized and untreated anemia can lead to:
· Fatigue, diminished physical capacity, decreased endurance, heart arrhythmias and heart failure.
· Increased risk for poor pregnancy outcomes such as smaller, sicker babies and risk for premature infants.
· Impaired growth and motor and mental development, shortened attention span, decreased alertness and increased risk for stroke in children.
· Decreased strength, increased risks for falls, reduces survival rates for heart and heart attacks and may worsen existing dementia in the elderly.
· Shorter survival time in patients with cancer.
Your donations will help us to improve the lives of people, throughout the world, through Patient Blood Management.
