"Those who restrain their desire do so because theirs is weak enough to be restrained." - William Blake
When I first heard about the Appalachian Trail seven years ago, I fantasized about taking my pup Shelby and heading down to Springer Mountain to crush mountains all the way to Katahdin. It was a fun little dream; but dropping everything including work for 6 months didn’t sound like the grown up thing to do.
Oddly enough, it wasn’t until Shelby passed this past year that I revisited the fantasy and realized that you don’t choose a life, you live one. So just like that I sold my house and got myself in position to take this quest.
I’ve been working with some fantastic people at Almost Home to try and raise $10,000 so other people might be as fortunate as I was to find their best friend. On March 8th Shelby’s ashes and I (as well as my 30 pound pack) will kick off this grand adventure of a life time.
