Baby Mateo's Journey

Donation protected
Baby Mateo was born on August 30 at 11:58 pm. His parents were expecting a premature baby but otherwise healthy. It was a huge shock to learn that Baby Mateo needed to be airlifted to UCSF immediately for surgery. He was born with VACTERL syndrome. The VACTERL syndrome is random co-occurrence of birth defects Vertebral anomalies, Anal atresia, Cardiac defects, Tracheoesophageal fistula and/or Esophageal atresia, Renal & Radial anomalies and Limb defects.

Baby Mateo had his first surgery 13 hrs after he was born. His mom, Cecilia, unfortunelty couldn't be with his son at this critical time.

Baby Mateo is expected to have several surgeries in his first two years of life. He has already had two  and one has been a tracheostomy. This will allow him to be more stabilized while being under in the next surgeries. Because he has the trach he will need a nurse to be around him at all time and this has caused his parents to make the difficult decision to move to San Jose. Baby Mateo's parents want the best for him.

Ever since Baby Mateo has been in the hospital his parents have left their jobs and that has put a financial burden on them. To visit him at Mission Bay  the parking is 19.00 every time plus gas and food. I am asking to help Baby Mateo and his parents during this tough time. Anything will help and we will be forever grateful. God bless!
