Historic Batavia Cemetery Repairs
Donation protected
Dear friends and neighbors:
Recently, the Historic Batavia Cemetery, which opened in 1823 and was listed on the State and National Registers of Historic Places in 2002, was seriously vandalized. Over 50-70 headstones, some dating back to the early 19th century, were broken or pushed over, causing thousands of dollars in damage.
The Cemetery Association is asking for donations to help repair and reset these monuments—no contribution is too small and every bit of support helps. Since we are a non-profit organization, the funds available to us to deal with this devastating loss are very limited. It is our hope that with your generous help, this rare gem in our community will be restored to its prior beauty and peaceful setting.
Thank you so much for your contribution!
