Friends and Family,
As most of you know,I have wrestled for over 20 years. The last 11 years have been as an assistant coach at Cal State Bakersfield. I have continued to compete throughout my coaching career to show the athletes I work with that I practice what I preach. This May I registered and successfully competed in the U.S. Open Veteran's Freestyle National Championships. I wrestled at 85 kg and won the national title. In doing so, I qualified for the World Freestyle Championships in Athens, Greece in mid October. I intend to compete at 76kg and again bring home a title.
I never thought this sport would take me to this point. In the same way that I teach my athletes to never settle, I do not want to settle at just a National Title. I want to strive to be the best athlete I can be. Wrestling has taught me so many important life lessons. I do not have quit in me and that is probably the reason I still compete at 35 years of age but every wrestler dreams of success on the highest stage. With your help, I have the chance to chase the highest achievement of my career, motivate young athletes to never give up on their dreams, prove something to myself and compete in the world's oldest sport in its birthplace.
Thank you for anything and everything you can do to help me on this journey.
