Hi, I'm Brittany and I've been accepted into Interlochen Arts Academy for my Junior (eleventh) year as a Creative Writing Major day dtudent.
School starts at the beginning of this September which means I have to raise as much as possible before then. I definitely need $2500 by August 20th for the first payment and $8500 in total. If I get more than I need, the later donators will be notified given the option to have a refund or let me keep the money toward next year. :)
"Are you really going to be attending this school? Why do you want to?"
If I'm able to afford the school, I will definitely be attending which is something I have wanted since middle school when I had first heard about their summer camp for music (I can't sing...) and later when I heard they were a school offering Creative Writing. Having been accepted, this means that they think I have potential.
This puts me one step closer to my dreams of being an legitimate author and gives me the chance to expand my horizons as a writer into any field which I may choose to study post-secondary. Editor, author, journalist, teacher... even something outside the English field like Psychology or Medicine. I can take myself so much further after I have had the chance to learn about writing at a school such as this.
"Are you that passionate?"
Yes. The only reason I would ever procrastinate anything is because I am reading or writing. This means that having the extreme in-school setting to draw out my daily dose of writing will not only benifit my abilities as writer, but my grades too, bringing them higher than they have been.*
"Why should I donate to you?"
The answer is simple. I can't afford to attend on my own past $1000 (which is still pushing it) so I need any help that I can get from anyone willing to give it. I live with my aunt who currently has minimal employmeny and can't afford to pay my way and the rest of my family is in the exact same boat, or at least similar ones. I have a job that I just got this summer and that money is practically gone from moving costs (buying stuff I need having flown in).
This is the only way that I will be able to afford the school so I implore... help me!
"But why do you deserve my money any more than someone else?"
Really, I can't say that I do. I can say this though. This is a premiere art school at the secondary education level and this is the first time I have been able to finish the application (counting the financial aid application it cost about $100 to apply and it took forever) and I was accepted the first go around despite academic set-backs.**
*Interlochen classes are at AP level (although the school only offers 2 actual AP courses I believe).
**Do to difficult home unfortunate circumstance and health issues - I was sick with lots of little things almost half of the school year for my sophomore year - my grades were affected negatively creating a worse academic record than I would have otherwise.
