Brown Girl Tarot™ Creation

Donation protected

Hello World!
My name is Fontaine Felisha Foxworth.

I am a Black, female, Brooklyn College B.A  Degree holding Filmmaker, Humanist,  Creative  & budding Entrepreneur from Brooklyn, NY. I'm here to fulfill my role in this life as a Lightworker - sharing light, love, & laughter to anyone the universe leads me to. I'm a dynamic, go getter, with a strong desire to give back to the world- one person at a time.

I started a lifestyle brand company called Brown Girl - Incorporated, with a mission to uplift and empower marginalized women of color, whilst emphasizing the importance of self love, self expression, and spirituality to all people.

I'm rasing money to produce, Brown Girl Tarot™, the world’s very first, non-illustrated classic photographed tarot card deck entirely inspired by WOC and re-imagined through the eyes and spirit of a melanated woman, on her journey to her most high(er) self.  BGT celebrates and embraces the beauty and diversity of brown and black women, as every card is art directed to emphasize the core, sacred messages of tarot- with a modern brown girl spin. The deck exclusively features WOC + one adorable brown baby girl!

Because of the conditioning of black and brown communities, specifically in the urban inner cities of the US, many of us have been led to believe that Tarot is a bad thing, and something we should stay away from. It's similar to the caricaturization of Voodoo in fictionalized Hollywood films for theatrical entertainment and capitalization. I would like to reverse this way of thinking, and make Tarot more accessible to the people of color to whom it's power potential might be innately blocked. We live in a time where people, (especially WOC) are drawing closer to spirituality, groundedness, and the search for something higher.

I hope to help people reach a higher awareness of themselves by using a tarot deck that reflects their likeness and make Tarot more approachable by clearing the misconception of it, and making it more modernized.

The Decks will come boxed with a silk  Custom Brown girl pouch.

Signature BGT Decks will be hand customized with brown and black velvet backing.

Though I am saving money by doing all of the administrative organizing, websites & social media, artistic graphic designing,  compositing & retouching of BGT Photographs - self publishing Tarot Cards can get pretty expensive!  BGT is the first, all female, non- illustrated, photographed & melanated deck in the world. There must be a professional photographer in both NY and NOLA, skilled MUA's, studio rentals, set design, props, wardrobe, food, and the list goes on.

Our Tarot

Day 1 of Brown Girl Tarot™  was shot on May, 7th 2017. It was a success! We got alot done!  Day 2 of shooting is slated for the end of June 2017.

This project means the world to me. I am truly passionate about this project, as we will be simultaneously carving a space for WOC in an arena that has been historically barred from our cultures. I have never felt more divinely inspired to do something, as I feel this idea came directly from source!

Discovering tarot has been a life-saving divinatory tool for me, and to be used as a vessel to bringing something in the world for the spiritual betterment of brown and black woman, + people of color in general, is everything to me. I am overwhelmed with joy, spirit, and love!

The last thing I want to do, is get this deck published through a company, and risk the dilution of this divine mission - as creative and spiritual control would be taken away from me. We for far too long have had our essence and light diminished in this systemic paradigm of oppression and capitalism, and that is something I wish to avoid at all costs. That is why this deck MUST be self published.

I would be so grateful for the help of anyone who wants to see this project come into fruition. Please check out the perks for your appreciated donations.
Thank you...from the bottom, middle and top of my heart!

Sincerely,

Fontaine F. Foxworth
