Build a Bridge of Hope

You can help send a teacher to Beirut, Lebanon to teach at the Beirut Bridge of Hope school for refugees!

Greetings! My name is Julia. Last year I raised funds and spent nine months in Beirut working with Syrian children who sought refuge in Lebanon.

They learned English speaking, writing, and spelling along with math and Arabic. I watched them excel and grow as they built trust and formed friendships in a safe environment. We learned songs, played games, and made crafts. Most importantly, they learned about God and felt His love.

Many refugee children are receiving little or no education. We had to turn away many kindergartners because of so many older children who need education and a limited number of teachers.

I spent four days a week with these children, loving them, teaching them, and introducing them to new things and ideas. On Fridays I spent time with them and their families in their homes, learning about them and their culture, and building relationships. I heard the hopelessness in the voices of mothers and fathers and the joy with which they talked about their children's progress and love of school. Stuck in a situation that is out of their control, education and God's love offer a way out. This is why the school is called Bridge of Hope. Will you help us build it?

I need your help to return in August. The school is a non-profit, and I go as a volunteer. Lodging is taken care of, but funds are required for groceries, transportation, visa, phone, things for the children, and other incidentals.

My estimated budget to be able to return for nine months is $7500.

 *Flights:                     $2400

 *Groceries:              $2700

 *Utilities:                  $1200

 *Visa/Insurance:   $  500

 *Phone:                      $  200

 *Incidentals:            $  500

For many years I gave to missions and causes in countries and places I could not go. Then, in June of 2018, God opened the door to Lebanon. In two months I abandoned my plans to attend Indiana Bible college, raised funds with the help of friends and family, and left my home in Indiana for the Middle East.

As I participated in Hope Corps in 2017 I could never have dreamed what God had in store. I have seen His hand at work every step of this journey. I feel extraordinarily blessed to be a part of the dream and vision for Lebanon and so grateful for all who gave to help me follow God's call. If God places a burden in your heart, will you join me by investing in this mission?
